Obviously, we love water – but we do prefer being on it rather than it falling on us. Although Spring is fast approaching, we are not quite there yet, and the weather keeps bringing water of the “wrong” kind!
Yes, we have the right gear to go out regardless, but it is no secret that most people prefer to hold out until it is a bit milder and dryer. This means we are currently running fewer events during the wetter months, but instead spend this time busily booking for the season ahead – and doing our “Winter Operations”.
Throughout the year we monitor everything we do, every boat we use, every supplier we contract – everything. Quality control and development never stops.
Safety is paramount on the water and safety checks are continuous and issues actioned instantly. During the quieter months is when the annual scheduled servicing of lifejackets and equipment happens, when the new vessel coding and insurance documents for the season ahead get collated and filed, when the onboard safety documents and charts are updated for 2022, and when we do a big stock take of everything we have and everything we might need.
One of the best things about “winter quieter time” is that we have more time to enjoy that process of checking and developing onboard menus (food, glorious food!), and more time to visit our summertime Solent venues, to catch up on the plans for the next season and for an unrushed chat.
In short, just because we are not on the water as much in winter, it does not mean we are not continuously thinking about being out there. We are prepping our Solent Rib Treasure Hunts and Rib Days, our Corporate Sailing Days, Regattas and Race Charters, our Luxury Powerboat outings and Hospitality events.
