The slightly “cheesy” title of a well-known book by John Maxwell. However, realistically people have always recognised that sharing responsibilities and tasks across a group of individuals, can lead to a better result than one person trying to do it all.
Providing that all these individuals, with all their different skills, ideas and attitudes, can work together as one – as a team.

Sailing provides the perfect opportunity for the office team to come together in a different setting. The opportunity to discover new traits and skills in each other, that don’t necessarily present themselves at work.
On board a yacht, each crew member has a vital role and their combined efforts are what makes the boat move. Sailing magnifies the importance of each individual’s contribution, showing that true teamwork is not just about working alongside each other, but working with each other.

All roles and skills are equally important – understanding and appreciation of each team member’s contribution, creates anticipation of each next move – guaranteeing smooth running of the boat (or business).
Communication is essential to succeed, trust in your team members is paramount. Situations change rapidly on boats, as in business – flexibility is always necessary to recognise early when you need to evolve and act.
Things will go wrong in sailing, you cannot win every race, but celebrating success and learning from losses, is always done as a team!
