With the days getting shorter and the air getting that bit colder, our corporate sailing season is drawing to a close for 2022 – and what a season it has been!
It was clear from the start that people were travelling again – UK colleagues finally got to spend time together with their international counterparts, face to face. It was a joy to host so many different nationalities out on the water – chatting and working together without a screen in sight. Truth be told, even phones tend not to make an appearance, when busy sailing a yacht together – a very natural, “organic” teambuild!
This season saw every type of event back on the water. We had days with smaller, one or two yacht events – sometimes with a Rib alongside for flexibility and blasting fun. One day in September saw us hosting 100 guests on 10 yachts – 60 of them went for a BBQ lunch in Cowes at the Royal Ocean Racing Club, the other 40 chose to have a buffet lunch onboard.
We facilitated race charters with entries in the Round the Island Race, Cowes Week and the Little Britain Challenge Cup. These were complete packages, including skippered yacht with racing crew, accommodation, catering, yacht & sail branding, and branded clothing.
Our VIP area at the Royal Ocean Racing Club during Cowes Week meant that we could also offer a special Cowes Week experience to those who didn’t want to race. We had guests out spectating on yachts and our Ribs, coming off the water for lunch, dinner – or both!
Our Ribs and bigger Powerboat charters featured heavily this season too – and continue to do so – autumn days might get too cold for a full day sailing, but blasting over to the Isle of Wight for lunch or a hot chocolate, is the perfect way to blow away some office cobwebs!
Our Rib Treasure Hunts were particularly popular this season – one day saw 130 guests on 15 of our Ribs, driving in formation across the Solent – a sight to behold. On the Rib Treasure Hunts, the time on the boats is interspersed with time ashore – a perfect way to enjoy being out on the water, even when the weather is getting a bit colder.
We might not go out sailing that much now, but that doesn’t stop us from thinking about it and planning next season. In fact, we have already taken 2023 bookings for company sailing days – both for team building purposes, as well as networking. We have also booked entries in the Round the Island Race, Cowes Week and the Little Britain Challenge Cup – all with accommodation in Cowes.
It is not too early to start planning that day on the water – please do get in touch on 01590 674900 if you would like to be part of the 2023 season!
