Well, if you had told us a year ago how this season would have gone, we would have said you were crackers!
With extended lockdowns early in the season, legislation allowed us to continue to run certain events, mainly teambuilding and conferences for small groups. When the restrictions lifted, the flood gates seemed to open and the phones were red hot with new enquiries for our events in the fresh sea air! Couple this with the 2020 events that rolled over into this year and the stage was set for a VERY busy season.
Having moved our Round the Island Race Charters from June to September 2021 and then to July 2021, we breathed a sigh of relief when the fleet of 1169 boats set off for this annual race around the Isle of Wight. As our events are all ‘turn key’ a huge amount of re-organisation needs to go into moving a three day event of this nature including re-booking crew houses, staffing, dining venues, onboard catering etc.
Cowes Week, the oldest and most well known yachting regatta thankfully also went ahead and whilst foreign visiting yachts were notably absent, the numbers of yachts racing was good and the atmosphere in Cowes superb. Our VIP area at the Royal Ocean Racing Club was buzzing everyday of this 7 day regatta with Yachts, Powerboats and Ribs entertaining our guests on the water.
We can’t thank all our clients enough for coming back to support us with a particular mention to those who agreed to roll their events forward.
We intend to take some down time in October to catch up on some sleep and get ready to do it all again in 2022!
